How to choose a kitesurfing kite?
Kite size is always a compromise between your weight, wind strength and discipline. An average rider (75–85 kg) on the Adriatic gets the most days on the water with a 9 and 12 m combination; chasing stronger days and jumps calls for a 7 m, while light thermal winds ask for a 14 m or a light foil kite.

- Big air and kiteloops — faster kites with strong lift and long hangtime.
- Waves and strapless — kites that turn quickly and drift well when you release the bar.
- Foil and light wind — high-aspect kites with low weight.
Construction and materials
Three struts are today\u0027s standard for versatile kites: enough stiffness for control and less weight for light wind. A Dacron frame is softer and more forgiving, while Aluula and similar materials are crisper, more responsive and pricier. The number of bridle points affects stability in gusty wind.
What else you need
The kite alone is not enough — you also need a bar with a safety system, a harness, a board and a pump. Buying several items together earns a bundle discount you assemble yourself on the product page.
