What to look at in a pump
- Cylinder volume — bigger means fewer strokes but more force at the end of inflation.
- Quality hose and adapters — the most common failure is a cracked hose or lost adapter.
- Pressure gauge — helps inflate the kite to the recommended pressure, extending its life.
- A foot leash so the pump does not fly down the beach.
Tip
An over-inflated kite in hot sun is a common cause of burst bladders. Inflate to the recommended pressure and rest the kite with its back to the sun. Spare parts are also in the repair kit.
